Spice-Inspired Guacamole

While not your traditional guacamole, even die-hard fans of the conventional variety feel surprised by how much they love this Ayurvedic interpretation. It tastes incredible with so many dishes, including my Portobello Mushroom Burger [insert link to recipe] and more.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large avocados
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • Juice of ½ lime or lemon
  • 1 teaspoon mineral-rich salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon brown mustard seed optional
  • ½ teaspoon caraway seed optional
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper omit for Pitta
  • Dash cayenne pepper optional
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh basil cilantro, or both

Instructions
 

  • Slice the avocados in half and remove the pit.
  • Spoon the avocado flesh into a medium-sized bowl and mash with a fork until creamy.
  • Stir in the olive oil, lime, salt, spices, and fresh herbs.
