Sleepytime Moon Milk

Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup oat milk coconut milk, or almond milk
  • 2 teaspoons food-grade lavender flowers or rose petals
  • ¼ teaspoon ground vanilla bean
  • Pinch saffron
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon ghee or coconut oil (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon ground ashwagandha or cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Whisk the milk in a small saucepan over low heat until very warm but not boiling.
  • Stir in the lavender, vanilla, and saffron.
  • Remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 20 minutes.
  • Strain.
  • Return the milk to the saucepan, simmer, and whisk in the maple syrup, optional coconut oil, and ashwagandha.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Note: If dairy milk digests well for your body, feel free to use it here. Make sure you choose the highest quality milk available to you—organic raw goat or cow’s milk is ideal.
Ayurveda Every Day Tip: Ashwagandha is contraindicated when you have excess congestion, fullness, weight gain, or toxicity. When that’s the case, substitute ashwagandha with ½ teaspoon of shatavari, cinnamon, ground ginger, or turmeric.
