Eighteen years into a life-long obsession with Ayurveda, I spend most of my days drowning in Ayurvedic goodness. Plus, I’ve been a yoga devotee since 1993! So trust that I’m well versed at giving yoga and Ayurveda as gifts.

Let’s keep things simple, real, and awesome. Without further ado, here are the best gift ideas for your favorite yoga and Ayurveda enthusiasts in 2019!

Sacred Self-Massage Tools!

When you practice Ayurveda, you quickly learn how important it is to keep your body moving and your lymphatic fluids healthy. I have the right tool in my shop! And I am including it into my holiday gift guide 2019! How does one keep your lymphatic fluids healthy, you ask? With sacred self-massage tools!

Whether it’s with a Dry Brush, Gua Sha, FasciaBlaster, or Warm Oil Abhyanga, sacred self-massage tools go SO far when it comes to maintaining excellent health – especially as we move into the heaviest season of the year – winter.

Cookbooks!

When it comes time to change and upgrade your diet, if you don’t know how to prepare the food that Ayurveda recommends, you’re at a stop. No-fuss Ayurvedic cookbooks make it no-excuses and super easy to live the Ayurvedic lifestyle through food.

Every Ayurveda enthusiast should have this book! Cooking really is the art of Ayurveda. And of course, that’s wrapped up with the lifestyle. Ayurveda is a life science and a lifestyle.

Nasya Oil: Nature’s Defense For Ears, Nose, and Throat!

A must for any all-natural first aid kit, Nasya Oil is a blend of ghee (clarified butter), sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. The one I make is warming, immune-boosting, and deeply protective.

Nasya oil lubricates nasal mucous membranes, helps relieve dryness and removes obstacles that may be the cause of frequent allergies and head colds. It’s a great preventative remedy to use while camping or when spending time in polluted, dusty, smoky, high-allergen areas.

Happiness is not a destination. It's a way of life

Chyawanprash

Sometimes spelled Chyavanprash – this an herbal Ayurvedic “Rasayana” or herbal jam on the top of any Ayurveda enthusiast’s list of “must try.” Fun fact: Rasayanas are how herbs are traditionally prepared and preserved in Ayurvedic medicine!

“The word Rasayana literally means, “any substance that helps to bring about the rejuvenation of your youthful mental and physical energy.” – Ayurvedic Rasyanas. And that’s what Ayurvedic living is all about!

My favorite Chyawanprash contains a giant handful of immune-boosting, rejuvenating herbs that stimulate metabolism and ignite healthy digestive fire – without aggravating fiery constitutions. I think of Chyawanprash as a tridoshic, stress-relieving, adaptogenic jam.

It’s truly delicious on toast or in tea!

Holiday gifts for the Ayurveda lover in your life

Now some years, buying gifts is out of your budget and you’d rather make something from scratch instead. Been there, done that – so I’ve got your back.
Here’s a recipe for tried and true, homemade Ayurvedic treats everyone loves!
Put a handful in your cutest cellophane treat bag and top it with a bow. Bam! Holiday gift awesomeness!

Butterscotch Balls

VP-K+

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Yield: About 30 cookies
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup non-fat dried milk powder or dried goat milk powder
½ cup raw honey or coconut nectar
2 heaping Tablespoons ghee (clarified butter) or coconut oil
1 teaspoon vanilla, plus 1/2 teaspoon almond or maple Extract
1 ½ teaspoon cardamom
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground ginger powder
¼ teaspoon ground tulsi or cardamom
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 drop rose, citrus, or cardamom essential oil, optional
1/4 cup slivered almonds
½ cup fresh cranberries, optional
15 fresh mint leaves, optional
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
On a clean, ungreased cookie sheet, mix the coconut and milk powder. Spread evenly across the cookie sheet. Bake for ten minutes, or until the mixture has turned to a golden color.
Pour the warm powders into a large bowl and immediately add the honey, ghee, vanilla, spices and optional essential oil. Use your hands to combine the batter – make sure everything’s well mixed. If your batter’s too dry, add a little more honey or ghee until you get the perfect consistency for the batter to stick. It’s ok if the batter is a little oily.
Roll into one-inch balls. Press a slivered almond into each one. Garnish Butterscotch Balls with optional cranberries and mint.
Keep these beauties stored in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve (or gift) them. These cookies are adorable, nourishing and wonderfully sweet.

Give The Gift of Health

When you give from your heart, you’re golden. When you give the gift of health and wellness, your recipient is golden, too!

Giving the gift of health is a powerful message that says you really care. It’s also a lovely way to thank people in your life who make a difference for you – and it helps them stick around longer, too.

Let your loved ones know you appreciate them this year and give them the gift of health and self-care. Happy Holidays from Ayurveda Every Day With Talya!

Love, Talya
